As far back as I can remember my mother spoke abour her early childhood. She was born out at Brushy Creek in Mayes County, Oklahoma (in the rural country). Mother recalled the summer times when they would have dinner on the ground, Church Suppers and wonderful picnics. Of course there was nothing like the BBQ's that took place. She often watched as her Grandmother (referred to as Big Mamma) would marinate the meat with wild herbs and spices that she would gather from the woods. All kinds of meats would be prepared from rabbits, squirrels, hogs, beef, chickens and even goats. She would prepare the meat to marinate over night to get ready to cook over an open pit. The smell of hickory wood and meat being cooked would fill the air. What would start as a family dinner would turn out to be a gathering of family, friends and near by neighbors. Anyone that happened to drop by never left hungry!
Sadly those days are all but forgotten for some, but we are determined to keep those traditions alive and well in our hearts.
We've come from a long line of great cooks so what better way to honor them all than to name our product line from the area from where it all began, Brushy Creek!
Now we would like to share our experience of great food and Southern hospitality with you!
Our goal is to provide not only quality products, but to provide great customer service as well.
When you think of fund-raising for you next event think of Brushy Creek.
To Keep our legacy alive we annually get together as a community to reunite with friends, family and neighbors. It's a chance to see some of the old familar faces along with the joy of meeting new ones. From young to old we engage in food, fun and friendship.
